We are so grateful for a strong MCHD Community.

We raise money through our name your price Farmstands, community dine backs, one-off fundraisers, the King Soopers Community Award program, and our annual Spring fundraiser. The funds raised in recent years support the following:

We proudly support:

  • The MCC is proud to support the Bee Hive at the Central Park campus. The students are actively engaged in the care of the hive and gain a ton of knowledge from this experience. This hive produces 100 jars of honey for our community each year. See this short video.

  • The MCC has helped fund the chicken coop at now at Dragonfly Farm at the Central Park campus. We hired a crew to clean out the yard, reinforced the yard enclosure, purchased and built the Omlet coop. We bought the initial supply of food and bedding, food and water feeders, and, yes, the chicken swing (which they have yet to enjoy). We also supplied the elementary children and teachers with garden boots to wear while in the coop area.

  • Whether a classroom needs a HEPA filter, new books, a new bookshelf, or table, we’re always happy to help with these expenses.

  • Whether back-to-school bike parades, the Fall Festival, or end of year events, we try to make these free for the community via the use of MCC funds.

  • All three campuses have weekly farm stands, built and brought to you by the MCC. These farmstands have seasonal produce, freshly baked muffins, farm fresh eggs, and other items on seasonal rotations.

  • From individual requests to school-wide appreciation initiatives, we try to show the MCHD staff and teachers how important and appreciated they are.

  • Each year a handful of MCHD teachers participate in various workshops or professional development courses, and those expenses are normally out-of-pocket for the teachers so the MCC contributes to offset their costs.

  • The MCC funds MCHD’s monthly subscription to The Happy Beetle, a local organization that provides pickups of hard-to-recycle and donation items from each of our three campuses. The Happy Beetle was also a 2023/2024 MCC Seed Sponsor, offsetting our initial costs.

  • Classrooms throughout the Central Park and Park Hill campuses have worm composting bins. Students compost their food scraps. The compost is then used for the gardens, which grow a variety of flowers and foods. The MCC was proud to purchase these worm composting bins.
