Dragonfly Farm Community Care Sign Up

No matter what campus your child attends, you and your family can experience caring for MCHD’s Dragonfly Farm hens and goats. Dragonfly Farm at the Central Park campus is a living classroom for our elementary students, but students of all ages can visit with the animals when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our farm currently has four Barred Rock hens and two female Nigerian Dwarf goats.

Visits entail:

  • letting the hens out of their smaller 360° fenced in area to their larger fenced area

  • ensuring the hens have enough food and water

  • collecting any eggs, which you’re welcome to take home with you.

  • feeding the goats and making sure they have enough water

  • assessing the animals general status (no injuries, etc)

  • putting the hens back in their 360° fenced area (they will go into their coop for bed on their own)

There are garden boots of various child and adult sizes, as well as rubber gloves that you’re free to use.

Any family signing up will be required to sign a liability waiver.

See this document for additional care instructions.
